Building through lockdown: 14,000 premises to get ultrafast broadband

While much of the country paused during lockdown, our engineers kept building. With Sheffield's city centre virtually deserted, we seized the opportunity to accelerate our fibre rollout through streets that would normally be too busy to work on during the day.

14,000 premises in S1 and S3

This phase of our build will bring ultrafast full fibre broadband to 14,000 homes and businesses across Sheffield's S1 and S3 postcodes, with speeds up to 10Gb/s. For many of these addresses, the only existing option was slow ADSL - we're changing that.

Turning a challenge into opportunity

Lockdown was tough for everyone, but empty streets meant our teams could lay fibre cables, pull overhead runs and access chambers that would normally require weekend or night-time working. The result is a faster rollout with less disruption - and thousands more Sheffield residents connected to genuine full fibre.
